Benefits of Forming an LLC
A limited liability company (LLC) is a business structure that can help separate your personal assets from the business's debts and obligations. It pairs the liability protection of a corporation with the simple tax treatment and paperwork of a sole proprietorship or partnership. An LLC can have one owner or many; owners are called members.
- Can help protect personal assets: Business debts and lawsuits generally stay with the business, not your personal savings or home, when the LLC is run as a separate business.
- Pass-through taxes: By default profits are taxed once, on the owners' returns, not at the company level.
- Less paperwork: Fewer formalities and reporting requirements than a corporation.
- Credibility: A registered business name customers, vendors, and banks take seriously.
- Easier banking and financing: Open a business bank account and build business credit in the company's name.
- Flexible ownership: One owner or many, run by the members or by a manager you appoint.
General information, not legal or tax advice. Liability protection depends on keeping business and personal affairs separate.
Frequently Asked Questions
How fast is it?+
Standard orders are submitted to the state within 3 business days. Expedited: Same-day submission: ordered by 2 PM Eastern on a business day, submitted to the state that day (later orders, the next business day). State processing then varies: some states approve the same day, others take a few weeks. We email you the moment it's approved.
Do I need a registered agent?+
Every state requires one: a person or company with a street address in the state, available in business hours. You can be your own for free, or name any registered agent company.
What about newspaper publication (NY, AZ, NE)?+
New York, Arizona (outside Maricopa and Pima counties), and Nebraska require new LLCs to publish a notice in local newspapers. We flag it before you pay; publication is arranged directly with the newspapers. Our service covers preparing and filing the articles.
